4 May 2010 – The French authorities sparked outrage by deporting a 15 year old Roma boy, who was following a medical treatment in Freyming-Merlebach, Moselle Department.

According to media reports, several police officers entered the therapy centre, where Ardy V. was treated for his multiple handicaps. The boy was taken to the airport from where he was deported together with his parents and two siblings.

The family came to France in July 2008, mainly to have their child treated. In October 2009, they received an expulsion order following the rejection of their asylum application.

While the local Prefecture says that Ardy V. could receive the necessary treatment in Kosovo, NGOs claim that his health condition has deteriorated since his arrival in Kosovo.
