19 June 2009 – In an interview with the Austrian newspaper “Die Presse”, the spokesperson of the UNHCR in Austria, Roland Schönbauer criticised the decision of the Austrian government, to consider the countries of the former Yugoslavia as “safe third countries”.

Schönbauer said that it was difficult to understand the decision of the Austrian government. He pointed out that Roma and other minorities continue to face “difficult human rights situations” in Kosovo and Serbia.
