Priština, 15 February 2008 – Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci pledged on Friday to build an accommodating society for all ethnic groups after Kosovo gets independence, according to reports reaching here from the Kosovo capital Pristina.

“We aim to build in Kosovo — it being a country that can accommodate all the citizens of Kosovo — a country of equal opportunities and of the most affirmative (action) possible for the minorities, primarily the Serbs,” Thaci said at a televised news conference after a session of the Kosovo parliament.

Yet he declined to announce the exact date for the declaration of independence of Kosovo.

“Kosovo has its own agenda, and we will be keeping to that agenda,” he said.

It is widely believed that the Kosovo parliament will adopt a statement of intent to proclaim independence on Sunday.

Serbian President Boris Tadic said the same day at a news conference that Serbia will enter a “frozen conflict phase” with all those countries that recognize Kosovo’s independence.

He was sworn in as Serbia’s President for the second term on Friday.

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica addressed the statehood Day and Army Day celebrations at Orasac of central Serbia on Friday that his country will not join the European Union through “undignified trade-off.”

Kostunica’s cabinet adopted on Thursday a resolution to annul a unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo as it violates Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
