14 February 2008 – At the request of the Serbian government the UN Security Council will meet today in order to discuss the expected declaration of independence by the Kosovo authorities.

According to the Security Council President, Ambassador Ricardo Arias of Panama this will be a closed meeting, to which the Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, at his request, will be able to participate.

The Kosovo Government has not requested participation. Kosovo’s Prime Minister declared on Wednesday that Kosovo is not at the moment “of the domain of the United Nations”.
