Berlin, 10 December 2007 – The German green party and the refugee organisation Pro Asyl have asked for a temporary moratorium on forced repatriations to Kosovo. This moratorium should last at least for another six month.
Party leader Claudia Roth declared that people belonging to ethnic minorities are particularly affected by the lack of stability. For this reason the director of Pro Asyl, Günther Burkardt, asked the German authorities to guarantee a stable status to refugees in Kosovo.
According to his organisation, there are currently some 23,000 Kosovo Roma in Germany.
